Zotero is a free, easy-to-use, open source research tool that runs in the Firefox web browser and helps you gather, organize, annotate, and share information. It includes the core features of older reference management software, such as the ability to store full reference information and to export that as formatted references, and new Web 2.0 features such as the ability to sort, tag, and store a screenshot of a web page. On many major research sites Zotero’s unique ability to sense when you are viewing a book, article, or other resource on the web, allows it to find and automatically save the full reference information for you in the correct fields.
The latest software release, Zotero 3.0, now gives you the ability to run Zotero outside the Firefox browser. Available for Mac, Windows, and Linux, this standalone version of Zotero enables users to integrate Zotero into browsers other than Firefox, such as Google Chrome and Apple Safari.
