A Quick Tip on Visual Literacy

In the Learning Technologies Group, we encourage the use of images in CLE courses to enhance the learning experience for students. Research shows learning is positively influenced by visuals (Paivio, 1991) and the use of visualization in thinking appears to be increasing (Stokes, 2002). As learners, it is also quickly obvious if an image adds value to our learning, or if it could use some design assistance.

With this in mind, how can faculty and staff improve the learning experience for students by incorporating useful images in CLE courses, while also teaching, researching, and practicing?

2015 Tech Clinics at UCSF Library

clinicsThe Learning Technologies Group had a great time with the 2014 Tech Clinics and we were able to help with CLE and multimedia projects along the way! Here are a few examples of UCSF projects that faculty and staff brought to the Tech Clinics: CLE gradebook questions, Articulate module development, Media@UCSF integration in CLE courses, online exam review for finals and midterms, and we even helped support a UCSF podcast!

CLE Refresh Coming Tomorrow

CLE_logo2Tomorrow, August 2, the Collaborative Learning Environment (CLE) will undergo an update as detailed in last month’s blog post, Announcing the CLE Refresh! The CLE will be unavailable on Saturday, August 2, from 6 AM – 2 PM (PDT) to complete the upgrade to Moodle 2.6 (the original upgrade date was scheduled for July 26).
